friend-sies

i worry a little that the girls don’t get enough time with other people, that it might not be so great that only hunny and i care for them.  they’ve never had a non-family babysitter, they’ve never been away from us for more than a few hours…  but somehow, they’ve never been terribly clingy or shy.

babycakes won’t talk much to other people, but she’ll shoot you little dagger eyes to be sure you’re watching her!  and beanie…  well beanie just tolerates others.  peasants.

today we had brunch with our college friends, we only get together as a group once or twice a year.  they’ve only seen these people in person a handful of times in their lives, but they were warm and lively from the start.

seeing babycakes walk with chuck made me smile.  it makes me feel like we must be doing something right for our girls to trust our friends as much as we do.

    awww, that’s sweet!

  2. At 17 and 9 our children are homeschooled and have never been with a babysitter or with any caretakers other than Joe and myself. They’re friendly and outgoing, real social butterflies. My son (17) hit the ground running…my daughter took a bit longer to interact, but she’s a great friend and has made some great friends.

If anything, I find the safety net has made them a bit too trusting. They are quick to welcome others into their space assuming thay too will be kind and loving. It’s a learning process, but I’m grateful that we were able to be there for them for those important growing years.
