OMG, MARSHMALLOWS!!!

this was just something that i wanted to see if i could do… and if the end results (i’ll show you tomorrow) seem to work out, they may be my new most favoritest thing to make. evar. get ready.

ingredients = granulated sugar, liquid sugar, and powdered sugar.  really, i looked up recipes online and they’re all pretty much the same, basically.  i went with the food network one, just because.  alton brown is adorable.

there’s some boiling involved, and it was the first time i’ve ever used a candy thermometer.  that’s a handy little tool, i feel all grown up and professional now!  then there was some mixing.  and some more mixing.  next kitchen treat i get is gonna be a stand up mixer.  or maybe a kitchen addition, i don’t really have any extra space for a stand up mixer.

what the heck, let’s make em pink…

i hope they aren’t too tough, it was pretty easy to get them in the pans.  come to think of it, i can see where this might be a WICKED messy project, but it wasn’t so bad…  or maybe i’m just used to making a mess.

they’ve gotta sit for a few hours before i can cut them, and if they’re tasty enough, i might take it up another notch.  stay tuned!

    I’m gonna need a taste update. Let’s say a regular store bought marshmallow is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 . . . what’s a homemade marshmallow?

When my daughter, the girls and I visited my friend during the summer, she had made marshmellows as we made smores. They were far superior to the bags in the grocery store.

You’re turning into quite a Martha in your kitchen.

OMG.. I have to try these.. I’ve always been so intimidated by home made marshmallows because I thought you absolutely needed to use a stand mixer… But you’ve made me a believer!! W00t!!

When I try them I’ll definitely let you know :)
